Pinecrest's Fall Runs Hot in October, Goes Quiet in November, Then Lights Up in December

October 8, 2026

This fall, Pinecrest's public calendar has two busy stretches with a quiet month between them. Between Pinecrest Gardens on Red Road and the Village's programming at Evelyn Greer Park and the Pinecrest Community Center, October has seven events across five dates. November has two. December has a three-week holiday festival, two Banyan Bowl concerts and a free fitness night. The busy month comes first, and it starts this week.

The table below comes from the Gardens' and the Village's current event listings as of early October 2026.

Month Pinecrest Gardens Village programming
October Flamenco y Folklórico (Oct. 11), Fall Garden Day and Nu Deco Ensemble (Oct. 17), Hazmat Modine with Pinecrest Uncorked (Oct. 24) FitCrest Friday (Oct. 16), Zombie Run (Oct. 17), Track or Treat and a movie (Oct. 23)
November Allyson Briggs & The Dan Gabel Big Band (Nov. 7) FitCrest Friday (Nov. 20)
December Nights of Lights (select nights Dec. 4 to 23), Allan Harris (Dec. 12), Orquesta La Oferta (Dec. 19) FitCrest Friday (Dec. 18)

The Sunday Farmers Market runs every week through all three months, so it isn't in the table. More on that below.

Saturday, October 17, Hour by Hour

The busiest single day of the season falls in the middle of October, when the Gardens and the Village each schedule something big on the same Saturday.

  1. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Fall Garden Day: Arts for Wellness at Pinecrest Gardens. The program includes interactive arts, garden activities and family programming.
  2. 6 p.m., the Village's Zombie Run at Evelyn Greer Park. It's a two-mile course with a zombie maze, games and music.
  3. 8 p.m., Nu Deco Ensemble opens its new season in the Banyan Bowl. The program brings back Nu Deco's Curtis Mayfield Suite. It also includes Valerie Coleman's Umoja Unbound, the Nu Deco original Tree Speak and Vivaldi's "Fall" from The Four Seasons.

The evening is where the timing gets tight. Nu Deco tickets are general admission, so seats are first come, first served. Doors open an hour before the show, and the Gardens recommends arriving 30 to 60 minutes early for the best seats. That puts the best arrival window between 7 and 7:30 p.m., only an hour or so after the Zombie Run starts. A family can do the morning at the Gardens and the run at Evelyn Greer. A couple can do the morning and the concert. Doing all three takes a fast handoff, or a plan to sit wherever seats are left.

The Rest of October Builds Around That Saturday

The week before is lighter. On Sunday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m., Orchestra Miami brings its family program, "Flamenco y Folklórico," to the Gardens. On Friday, Oct. 16, the night before the big Saturday, the Village holds the first of three FitCrest Fridays. Gym use at the Pinecrest Community Center is free, and the night includes pickleball and teen activities.

The following week, Halloween comes early. On Friday, Oct. 23, Evelyn Greer Park hosts Track or Treat and a screening of Zootopia 2. Trick-or-treating starts at 5 p.m., the movie starts at 7:30 p.m., and the event runs until 9 p.m. The Village's general event page still lists an earlier 5 to 7 p.m. window. The Oct. 2 Village news update has the newer times shown here.

October ends with a grown-up night. On Saturday, Oct. 24, the New York-based band Hazmat Modine opens the second annual Sound Sessions series in the Banyan Bowl at 8:15 p.m. The band mixes Delta blues, gypsy jazz and global rhythms. Concert seats are $55 in Level A and $50 in Level B, and both prices include a $5 processing fee. Hazmat Modine's album "Cicada" won France's Charles Cross Award for Best Blues Album of the Year, and the band has toured more than 40 countries. The same night, Pinecrest Uncorked starts at 6:30 p.m. with a tasting of 12 California wines curated by Marchelle Wines. You can buy a ticket for the tasting only, the concert only or both. The Uncorked page lists concert-only tickets at $55 to $65, so the final price depends on which page you buy from and which seat you choose. An August preview in Community Newspapers listed the start time as 8:30 p.m. The Gardens' own page now says 8:15, and that page is the one to check on the day.

Sound Sessions concertgoers get free parking and access to concessions before the show.

November Is the Breather

After that run, the calendar thins out to two dates.

On Saturday, Nov. 7, Allyson Briggs & The Dan Gabel Big Band open the Jazz at Pinecrest Gardens series. This is the series' 17th season. That makes it the longest-running of the Banyan Bowl's three music programs, ahead of Tropical Nights in its fifth year and Sound Sessions in its second. The second FitCrest Friday follows on Nov. 20.

That's all November has on the public calendar. For anyone who hosts relatives at Thanksgiving, the open weeks are useful. It's easier to pick a single date when the calendar isn't crowded.

December Fills Back Up, and Mostly at Night

The second peak runs on evenings. Nights of Lights takes over Pinecrest Gardens on select dates from Dec. 4 to Dec. 23, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Expect light displays, Santa and Grinch appearances on select nights, Story Time, a Jolly Craft Corner, holiday vendors and live performances. The award-winning playground is open after dark too. Tickets are good only for the date you pick when you buy them. Tickets may be sold at the gate if any are left, but the Gardens strongly recommends buying ahead. Parking is free, and members get a discount at the gate if they show their card and a photo ID.

The Banyan Bowl concerts fall in the middle of that stretch. Allan Harris plays the jazz series on Dec. 12. A week later, on Dec. 19, Orquesta La Oferta opens Tropical Nights. The Village's last FitCrest Friday of the year lands the night before, on Dec. 18.

So the weekend of Dec. 18 and 19 looks a lot like Oct. 17, with Village and Gardens events back to back. Nights of Lights also runs on select dates that week, so check which nights it's open before you plan around it.

Why the Banyan Bowl Carries So Much of the Season

Almost every evening event this fall at Pinecrest Gardens happens in one place, the amphitheater under a geodesic dome at 11000 Red Road. Miami New Times named the Banyan Bowl Best Outdoor Venue in its 2025 Best of Miami awards. The paper's Oct. 2 season preview pointed out that the Gardens' peacocks sometimes join in from the surrounding 14 acres.

"Nature loves to improvise, and audiences love to experience something unique and unexpected," Pinecrest Gardens Executive Director Cristina Blanco told New Times.

Seating works differently from show to show. Nu Deco is general admission. For Hazmat Modine, you pick an assigned seat on a map. Before you plan your arrival time, check which kind of ticket you're holding.

The Sunday Constant

Underneath both busy months, the Pinecrest Gardens Farmers Market keeps going every Sunday, rain or shine. Vendors sell produce, handmade goods and prepared food. Baptist Health sponsors a free community Vinyasa yoga class from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. The listing gives two sets of hours, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the top and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the description, so arriving between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. covers both. The market has won Miami New Times' Best Farmer's Market title five times, most recently in 2023. One date to know for later is Jan. 24, 2027, when there's no market because of the Art and Design Fair.

Before and After, on US-1

Two of the newest food stops near Pinecrest are on South Dixie Highway, close to either end of a concert night or a Sunday morning. Sergio's opened its first Pinecrest location on Dec. 15, 2025, at 11927 S. Dixie Hwy. It has a coffee-and-pastry ventanita. H&H Bagels opened at Suniland Shopping Center on Feb. 19, 2026, and Miami New Times reported a line before sunrise on opening day. The opening-day report lists H&H at 11311 S. Dixie Hwy. A bagel run before the 8:30 yoga class, or a cafecito at the ventanita after Flamenco y Folklórico, both fit easily around the October schedule.

The Gardens notes that lineups, dates and times can change, so check each event page the week of the show.
