Tia’s Merenguitos
A Citron family tradition for decades! These airy meringue cookies, passed down from Tia El, are pure crunchy goodness.
Ingredients
- 6 egg whites
 - 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
 - 2 cups sugar
 - 1 tablespoon white vinegar
 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
 - Parchment paper
 
Directions
- Preheat oven to 275°F. Line cookie sheet with parchment.
 - Beat egg whites with cream of tartar, adding sugar slowly. Continue beating until stiff peaks form.
 - Mix in vanilla and vinegar.
 - Drop mixture by teaspoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheet, keeping sizes consistent.
 - Bake for 45–60 minutes at 275°F. Do not open oven while baking.
 - Allow to cool completely. Store in an airtight container.
